Gather up picks and shovels and prepare packs as you delve deep into the forgotten stronghold of a mad mouse king - the Tomb of a Thousand Doors. A megadungeon for the rules-light fantasy adventure roleplaying game Mausritter.
It’s a deep and dark dungeon down there, and it will not be fair on a little mouse. But if you are cautious and maybe a bit daring and reckless, you may be able to retrieve unnumbered riches. And if you delve for long enough, you may just uncover the greatest treasure of all mousekind.
A collaborative effort by the Bernpyle Press Creative Collective, the Mausritter Discord, and the Mausritter Third-party Community; Tomb of a Thousand Doors is a megadungeon campaign setting for Mausritter. With over 30 unique dungeons all connected into a massive labyrinth of a structure. Tomb of a Thousand Doors will bring, literally hundreds of hours of potential game play to your table.
We are looking to crowdfund $5000 to bring this project to life. The goal is to bring Tomb of a Thousand Doors to life as an A4 landscape, smyth sewn binding, ribbon bookmarked, 90 page hardcover book. The fundraising goal will cover the remaining artwork (31 unique maps by Fernando Salvaterra), the offset printing and binding by Mixam, the layout and design, and that’s it! There will be a tier for the digital product but the main product is the premium print run.
The beauty about this project is it already is complete in text form. In truth, it is way more than just text form but a complete A5, 188 page book available for pay-what-you-want on here itch.io. Why are we funding it then? Well, this project is the result of a game jam with 43 entries, all with their own flavor and style but together, though the content is there, lacks a cohesive flow and design. This campaign will reformat and elevate the project to new heights! We have already invested $3500 dollars into some of the greatest artwork there is, and as a dream project we are so excited to see it come to life!
Within this megadungeon are:
- 38 keyed dungeon locations
- Over 250 rooms
- 100+ subterranean and pocket dimension hexes
- 4 rival adventuring parties
- 5 fleshed out factions
- 8 boss level monsters and/or wandering monsters
- 25+ new creatures
- 36 random treasures
- 6 species of magical mushroom
- 50+ named/described magical items
- Over 100,000 potential pips to be recovered
- and so much more!
Setting background:
To the northwest of Mayfield, just south of the Rittermarch lies a hidden structure; lost amidst the dense forest. In the depths of these woods, under the most ancient and gnarled oak lies an ornate stone archway; through which is a doorway to endless tunnels, dug by forgotten generations of dwellers. Where they all lead, no one knows; welcome to the Tomb of a Thousand Doors.
In ages past, a mad mouse king built up stores for his vast riches in a massive, subterranean and deadly tomb. Seasons came and went and the tomb was left undisturbed. Sometime in the recent past, several antagonistic factions broke into the tomb and uncovered various dangerous artifacts. Now, these diverse factions make this Tomb their home.
The Maus Kingdom is calling on brave mice adventurers to delve into the tomb and clear out the faction and retrieve any of the riches and artifacts that they can.
This megadungeon can be a standalone campaign site or can be added to any hex of an ongoing Mausritter campaign. Tomb of a Thousand Doors references other Third-Party Mausritter Products such as: Mayfield, The Rittermarch, and Bernpyle; however, these materials are not needed to play but could add more options and depth for extended campaign play.
With your download you will have access to: Tomb of a Thousand Doors Spreads, Tomb of a Thousand Doors Singles, Tomb of a Thousand Doors 1st Edition, Tomb of a Thousand Doors Pre-Gen adventurers, and three zines of Tomb of a Thousand Doors broken down into a preview of the megadungeon, a list of factions and a bestiary, as-well-as and 128 page description of each dungeon.
If you purchase this module for $5.00 or more you will gain access to: Tomb of a Thousand Doors Maps (by Fernando Salvaterra), Tomb of a Thousand Doors Game Master Screen (Art by Bruno Prosaiko), and a bunch more cool graphical assets for either print-and-play or VTT. (Reasoning for a purchase price is to pay for the commissioned artwork)

I didn’t back the Kickstarter because I saw a message that these files would get updated with the KS files once they were done.
If we have purchased the current version on Itch, does this provide access to the digital version of the upcoming remaster? Or is that only accessible through the preorder store?
Great question! It will become available on itch later this summer. It will be roughly $25 or more for all the KS Digital files. If you already paid $10 during the initial funding it’ll be $15ish etc.
Thanks for responding! Followup--does the hard copy available for preorder include access to the other digital files?
hard copy book will include digital for the book, the songs, and intro adventure
this looks fucking amazing. i want to buy this book
Super excited to get the book and use it in our Blister Critters games! Great work!
Darn! I just found out about this, about a week too late to participate in the kickstarter. Is there going to be any possibility of late backing, or possibility to purchase this if we missed out?
for sure. There will be a pledge manager and pre sale page coming soon
Hey! The dungeon looks awesome, and I'm looking forward to participate in the campaign in the next days only for the digital version as I live in South America and shipping costs would be too high for me. One question that I have, will all the dungeons be formatted following a same pattern in this new version? Because right now as you already stated it's a bit confusing to follow through the document and everything looks different too. Having them with matching style is what I'm looking forward to get here. Thanks in advance, and congratulations on your awesome work.
yes! And thank you for the support. The whole thing is getting an overhaul and it will be the same format, and lay out throughout, and every map will be done by the same artist.

Is entrance #5, Roddy & Rowdy's getting an update or are we going to leave that blank?
The upcoming Kickstarter has a full store with 20+ items that are unique in magical that are available for sale! It is pretty awesome
Awesome! That makes a lot of sense with the Kickstarter coming next year.
KICKSTARTER IS HAPPENING!

Well, since we are going to legitimately crowdfund a hardcover for Tomb of a Thousand Doors, I wanted it to be special and unique! The hardcover is going to be A4 Landscape with smyth sewn binding and a ribbon. I've already started to edit the cover/back/spine...
Please include payment options other than paypal.
stripe should be available too. I’ll take a look
Seconding this request
hey, I need you'r help, do you have the Haunted Garage demo
Hey there everyone. There is a growing renewed interest in Tomb of a Thousand Doors And Fernando Salvaterra is onboard to revamp all of the original submission maps to form a cohesive style throughout the book. I also have someone onboard to transcribe all the text for a reformatting. All of this would get us to a place of the book being ready for an actual hardcover print run. If I look at re-crowdfunding this project it would be to raise funds for the map art and the transcribing as-well-as any extra to pay the original submission writers... how much desire would there be? (Total we would seek to raise is $2000)

Are the "Massive" file and the "1st Ed. Singles" simply all the other files as one in two formats? That is, you're not missing anything besides different formatting if you download all the rest individually?
correct! The larger file is a searchable pdf however
TY!
Hi! This looks more and more amazing! Can't wait for a potential print!
Hey there everyone! Mausritter Megadungeon Mayhem was a huge success this past May. Massive thanks to all those who participated and made the Tomb of a Thousand Doors a reality. I have had so much fun reading through every submission and formatting the completed book. And wow, 176 pages of pure content! You all are so amazing! Huge shout out to Fernando Salvaterra as well for his map of the megadungeon complex, it is beautiful.
I recently released the complete book and it is blowing up on itch.io and Twitter, so many people are snagging it and sharing it and I am blown away by all the support. It has also generated much speculation into a print run. I have connections with the fine folks at Exalted Funeral and I’ve run several successful crowdfunding campaigns so I have full expectation getting this in print could be a reality (and potentially in short order). However, in order for this to occur I would like to a couple things.
First off, I love all the individual submissions and the vibe they bring – y’all are so creative! So, no matter what comes of this, all the originals will remain in all their glory! The current complete book will also remain untouched. That said, If we do a print run there will need to be some edits to the submissions. I believe in this project and would LOVE to see it happen – so, I can do all the edits and reformatting, this is all I would need.
That is it! Hopefully easy enough, you could email the text or files at manarampmatt@gmail.com with ToaTD Sub as the subject line.
Okay, so here is the plan…
So… who is in and what are y’all’s thoughts? I would love to see this crowdfund enough to pay some of our friends in the French, Spanish, and German communities translate this work as well.
Please let me know. Thanks.

Terrific idea. I'm totally in !!!
Any possibility of giving you the translation into another language and adding it to the download options?
I send the translation, you would need to add the layout and images.
Love this idea!
Very glad to have contributed to the project.
